Blogiversary

Happy 2 Years!!! Today marks 2 years since I began this blog.

This is us the year we started the blog and Jake at 15 months...goodness how he has grown!

We went from the baby website to the blog and have invited in a whole world of people to follow along in our lives. Mostly focusing on Jake, but as the years have progressed adding in a little more of us to the Jake updates.

I thought it would be fun to look at some stats over the last 2 years:
The most read post on the blog has been Feed Him Well
although, Pray For Him was our most commented post (we really love comments...feel free to let us know you were here.)
The majority of our readers are here in the United States (no surprise as this is a family update blog), but we also have readers in Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, & South Korea. With a few other countries mixed in as well.

Google search found people searching for lots of words and visiting our site. Other then directly searching Nunnally Family Fun the other most popular search word was carbatarian which lead people to this post. I am sure that is not what they were really looking for. :)

Some of my favorite posts over the last 2 years in no particular order:

Run-probably because this post was featured on Tuesday Tours over at Metropolitan Mama(so exciting!!)
Grown
How Does Your Garden Grow
6 Wonderful Years
Conversations
1st Hair Cut
The Worst Mom Of the Year Goes To
I could really post tons, but that is a few. Here are Jake birthday posts over the last 2 years.
Today your are 2
Jake's 2nd Birthday
Happy Birthday Big Boy
Birthday Recap

Alright that should keep you busy with lots of reading...but really there has been so much that has happened and been blogged about over the last 2 years. And really we love to hear your thoughts so leave a comment next time you stop by!!

And here we are this past fall and our grown up 3 year old boy!!!

Valentine's Challenge

It is another week of the 25 days until Valentine's Day Be My Valentine Marriage Challenge with Courtney at Women Living Well. This week she shares her experience with going first to apologize to our husbands. And then gives 10 fun ways to praise your husband. A couple I am looking forward to adding in: writing a love message on the shower door or bathroom mirror, writing a message in sidewalk chalk on the driveway(I am sure Jake would have fun with this one too.)

I am having fun thinking of fun and different ways to praise Jason. Sending him little text messages throughout the day and leaving him little notes. This 30-day challenge definitely been fun to read every day and get ideas from.

On another blog I read she is starting the 14 day love dare on February 1st. On her blog she list the 14 days and what will be the focus. Be sure to check out Ordinary Inspirations for more about her 14 day love dare challenge.

Valentine's day may just be a made up Hallmark holiday or it might be a little bit about St. Valentine too . Whatever you think it is great to have a day set aside to remind us to lavish our husbands with love and praise. And how great to have a theme for days leading up to Valentine's Day.

Daily Moments(1/16-1/22)

Another week of 2011 full of lots of fun!
Sunday-January 16th-We bought a paperoni set at Target on clearance today. Mostly it was for me :) but Jake & I had lots of fun sticking the paper onto the sticky shape.

Tuesday-January 18th-Super muddy rain boots are a sign of lots of fun outside. After the snow and some rain our backyard was very muddy. Of course Jake had the best time playing in the mud.

Wednesday-January 20th-This is what I see while I am running on the treadmill. Several times Jake will come over and hold onto the handle and run along with me. Makes the running a little easier :)

Thursday-January 20th-Jake always looks so comfy in his bed when I go check on him at night. I took his picture to remember him in his little toddler bed. We are getting a full size mattress and giving him a big boy room. So he won't be in his little bed much longer.

Friday-January 21st-Jake & I went to the pro-life march with some of our friends down town. It was great to hear the speakers and be surrounded by so many people in support of life from the beginning.

Saturday-January 22nd-Today we celebrated my sister Amber's birthday in her new house. Fun with pizza and ice cream cake of course Jake loves to visit the babies.

Praise Plan

There are 25 days until Valentine's Day!

You know I am always up for one of  Courtney at Women Living Well's challenges she puts together. For the next 25 days she is doing a Be My Valentine Marriage Challenge with the 25 days praise plan. Each week the challenge will be the same - to praise, encourage, inspire, admire, build up, thank and appreciate your husband.

My love language is words of affirmation and they say whatever is your love language is usually how you speak love to other people.  So I really enjoy giving Jason praise and encouragement. But I am looking forward to each weeks challenge for other ways to encourage & show my appreciation for Jason.

After all Jason deserves every type of praise I can give him.

For the next 25 days we are to follow the 25 days praise plan and then kick it up a little with the weekly ideas too.

Here is this weeks challenge
Week 1 starts TODAY! Look for ways to praise your husband verbally. Praise him in front of the kids, friends, family, co-workers, on facebook, tweet it - get praise out anyway you can! Try to mention something noteworthy he has done - in his role as provider, father, husband, lover, or friend. If the thought of trying to come up with one terrifies you, then pray right now that God will give you new eyes to see your husband as God does. Then open your mouth and say something kind and uplifting to your husband today and tomorrow and the next day until Valentine's Day arrives.

On Women Living Well she also shared a link  for this 30 day husband encouragement challenge. Which gives different tips for the next 30 days. This will take you right through Valentine's day.

I am looking forward to taking the time to focus on Jason over the next 25 days.

Are you joining me in this 25 day Praise Plan?

Daily Moments (1/9-1/15)

So I could have just called this week snow moments! Really that is all we experienced the WHOLE week. I am ready for summer after this week. Please no more snow or ice.

Sunday-January 9th-Today is the day the snow started after only a few minutes everything was covered.

Monday-January 10th-The snow is here. Thank goodness Pawpaw took Jake sledding today. You can see from his face here he is having the very best time. He probably could have done this all day long!

Tuesday-January 11th-Another snow picture...really this was our entire week. Getting snow for snow cream.

Wednesday-January 12th-Silly Jake...no idea what these glasses go to, but Jake thought he was so funny when he found them at Nana's house.

Thursday-January 13th-I guess after so many days of snow and being stuck in the house there really wasn't anything left to take a picture of. Just imagine more snow!

Friday-January 14th-This is our backyard. The snow is not wet in this picture, but a huge skating rink of ice. It is hard to capture in a picture just how shiny, icy the snow is. But I do love how it looks with the setting sun reflecting the icyness.

Saturday-January 15th-Jake loves to wash dishes. Every time he puts a dish in the sink or sees a dirty dish he asks if he can wash the dishes. Although, this usually makes a bigger mess I know that in 10 years he will be fighting me to not have to wash the dishes.

Yum Cream

Otherwise known as snow cream. I have read a couple blogs by people who regularly get snow and in turn make snow cream. I thought for sure the next time we got snow we would do this.

Let me just say this is so delicious...we all Loved it!!!

Get some fluffy good snow. Put a few scoops in a cereal bowl or any other bowl you want.
You need vanilla, sugar, and either heavy cream or milk (we used the heavy cream).

1/4-1/2 tsp of vanilla
1-3 Tbsps sugar
4-6 Tbsps of either cream or milk
Stir together and ENJOY!!
This is seriously good stuff!!!

Although, I am totally over the snow/ice this did make the snow a little more fun...ugh I am so ready for the sun!!!

Daily Moments(1/2-1/9)

If you follow my blog for Jake updates I am sure you are so excited that I am back to daily moments posts. A full post of just Jake pictures!
Sunday-Jan.2nd-This is really not a good picture, but it was such a a fun family game night that I wanted a picture to remember. A cozy night by the fire playing board games.

Monday-Jan. 3rd-Jake loves to play games on our phones. We have this app called zoodles and it is the perfect kid app. It is filled with lots of different games he can choose on his own to play without getting into the other things on the phone.
Tuesday-Jan. 4th-Can you spot Jake? Sometimes our playroom looks like this. It is kind of embarrassing, but it shows lots of fun was had that day.

Wednesday-Jan. 5th-This was Jake's best hiding spot. I really could not find him for a minute or two. I would call his name and could hear him in the distance answering back. Then I opened our pantry door and he was behind the trash can...cracking up laughing.

Thursday-Jan. 6th-Jake playing with his moon sand...love this stuff!

Friday-Jan. 7th-No matter how cold Jake still wants to be outside...and nothing is more fun then mowing the grass.

Saturday-Jan. 8th- Just because Jake is too cute!!!

Sledding

Jason's parents had bought a sled several years ago when it seemed it might snow more regularly in Georgia. Of course once the sled was purchased there wasn't another time to use it. Thank goodness for us they had saved the sled and gave it to us. We had it stored in our attic, and although I was really trying to believe this snow wasn't coming Jason got it down from the attic.

I am glad he did because Jake has loved it. Thank God for Pawpaw when Daddy is at work. Pawpaw took a million trips up the hill with Jake and pushed him down in the sled.

Snowed In

I knew that no matter the weather Jason would attempt to drive to work. They were calling for bad weather, with predictions of a lot of ice and possible power outages. My parents live a little closer to Jason's work and have easier access to the interstate to get there. Because Jason would be at work and was even planning to spend the night there if need be I decided it would be better for Jake & I to be snowed in at my parents house then at home all alone.

We packed up tons of stuff and headed over to their house before the weather got bad. I was really hoping the weather predictions were off and the weather wasn't going to be bad.

I guess I was wrong. It is estimated we have had somewhere between 4 & 6 inches of snow. And on top of what was nice fluffy snow it continued with sleet and freezing rain. Which left a big crunchy layer of ice on top of the snow. (if you aren't from Georgia...every single thing in the state shuts down at the first hint of snow/ice)

Jason made it to work safely...after all the pizza business never rests. And Jake & I are enjoying some time snowed in at my parents house. There is no telling how long we will be here. With the weather not predicting to be much over freezing all week the snow is said to be sticking around.

Snow days as kids are so much fun & it would be much more enjoyable if Jason would have a snow day too. Instead I dread going out in the freezing and it is inevitable that Jake will ask several times to go out and play.

We have enjoyed filling our time by putting together a few puzzles.
