Grown

Just yesterday he was a baby
and today it seems he is GROWN!

It started with a hair cut. Mind you this is not the 1st, but with each hair cut he has seemed older. Then Jason took him a couple weeks ago for another. When they came home he was GROWN!

We have been talking about getting rid of his pacifier for months now. Really it was more me holding back then anything. He loves his paci (and was super attached). I didn't want to be the one to make him sad.

We were down to 2 pacifiers left in the house(I promise those things disappear). Both the pacifiers had been chewed and were left with a hole in each. Last week Jake bit the end off his most favorite paci. But he was ok with it he still had the little bit favorite. (his words)

But really it was time to let go....I was having a hard time just giving it up.
And so was Jake. You couldn't even mention "get rid of the paci" if he  was a around. He would yell from where ever he was(because his ears were on radar for those words) "no, it not time to get rid of my paci."

I knew this road would not be fun...I am not a cry it out kind of parent. And what do you do when your sweet boy is crying for one of his most favorite possessions(the other is his blankie...which he still has)?

Finally the inevitable happened.....

While at my mom's and of course being the clown he is & trying to show off...
He bit the end off the VERY last paci we had(well really there was one at my mom's but we were done).

Before he did this we gave him full warning..."if you bite it off your paci will be gone and you won't have it any more."

When he did we all acted super excited and told him what a big boy he would be without a paci.
Too cute Caleb even gave him a high 5 and said "yeah, you a big boy no more paci."

Jake was proud!

For the 1st time ever he let you call him a big boy when talking about his paci. In months past he would say he was a big boy until you said "well, big boys don't have pacis." Then he would revert and so "no, my a baby."

I was not....literally I had to hold the tears back (even now as I write this post and recap the end I am holding tears back....ok, maybe a few rolling down my cheek).

This was the last thing holding him at being a baby

This was it....

From here what do you get?

GROWN!!!

That is the only word to describe my sweet baby boy this week...GROWN!! He just seems so grown without it. Although he had stopped walking around the house with it. He did still have it pretty regularly.

Some how he just seems GROWN!!!

Feed Him Well

I didn't get a post done for last weeks Completing Him Challenge. Jason & I had lots of conversations about last weeks challenge (priorities). But I never got around to posting about it. So we will skip right along to this weeks challenge which is: Make your husband a priority. Ask him what his favorite dinner, dessert drink are. Be sure to serve him all 3 one night this week. Bonus: make his favorite foods all week.

This weeks challenge is going to have to carry over to next for us. I won't be able to cook Jason's favorite meals all week so I will be doing this all next week too.

I will be making meatloaf, steamed squash, & rice for dinner tonight. One of his favorites.

And I have made pumpkin muffins for breakfast tomorrow. Jason likes most anything pumpkin and thanks to his mom has a huge appreciation for real from the pumpkin not canned pumpkin. During the fall we have started cooking and pureeing pumpkin to keep in the refrigerator all year long. I love being able to pull out a container and make a pumpkin pie in the middle of the Spring or a pumpkin cheesecake during the summer and not have to use canned pumpkin.

Jason's most favorite meal is grilled steak. I have no clue how to use the grill and really no desire to either. Jason is a master at the grill and makes the best stuff. I am sure one day this weekend he will enjoy a grilled steak...me grilled chicken and he will cook it. But truth is he enjoys grilling and would probably be annoyed if I tried to grill for him. I will make his favorite side dishes to go along with his grilled steak.

And then through next week will include the things that I can make that are his favorites for him to enjoy.

Oh and his favorite drink is sweet tea...the sweeter the better. And honestly this is probably pretty high on his list of priorities for me to have a gallon of sweet tea in the refrigerator all the time!!

I love cooking for my family and trying new recipes so it will be so much fun going through the recipes this week and talking to Jason about what he wants to eat each night.

Daily Moments

Another week has passed...can you believe it is July? I am linking up for Project Life Tuesday at
The Creative Mom. Hope you enjoy your peek into our week.

Monday June 28th-we decided to take Jason's truck to run some errands. Of all days it started to over heat. So we drove the truck to my parents house. Thankfully Mike was able to help Jason fix the problem. But we ended up spending most of the day there. Thankfully Jake & I found some bathing suits to borrow and were able to swim while we waited. (FYI...my cell phone takes the worst pictures ever)

Tuesday June 29- Lunch at Costco...one of our favorite places with our favorite people Tiboo(Caleb) & Wawa(Heather)!!! It is so cheap. Jake & I ate for just under $5. Not to mention the plethora of samples you get to try while you are walking around. We were stuffed to the max when we left there. Yummy!!!

Wednesday June 30-For our 4th of July swimming play date I made ice cream cone cupcakes with red, white, & blue sprinkles. Jake thoroughly enjoyed his. And I love this picture with the icing all over his face. Lots of fun times!

Thursday July 1st- We took a turn at canning....and loved it!! We canned a jar of banana peppers & can't wait to try other things.
Friday July 2nd-Didn't take any pictures today
Saturday July 3rd-Pawpaw with 2 of his grandsons...this was like the 4th try...here Jake & Pawpaw are both saying Cheeeeeeese.

Sunday July 4th- Our little family dressed in our 4th of July outfits...such a fun day

Panda Bears

Jake LOVES Panda Express the restaurant. He always calls it Panda Bears...I guess fitting to a 2 year old when the place has lots of pictures of pandas everywhere. Jason & I of course really enjoy this place as well. We frequented it very often while I was pregnant and wonder if this is why Jake loves it so much. Any time we ask Jake what he wants to eat he always says "Panda Bears, chicken & rice."

I wanted to scrapbook his favorite restaurant at 2 so I of course was crazy mom in the restaurant taking pictures...thankfully no one was there at the time & the girl who works there totally knows us. So I didn't really look to crazy.

Maybe part of the reason he loves it so much is the giant cookie he gets at the end
