Brother meet Sister

To say that Jake has been so excited to meet Lily would be an understatement & it all came together when he came up to the hospital meet Lily.

Oh if you could feel excitement through pictures it would make it so much better. Jake was beside himself when he got to see Lily for the 1st time. The smile on his face was bigger then ever. He just wanted to sit and hold her and look at her. He kept saying "I can't believe she is really here."

Maternity

I never got a chance to share these maternity pictures before Lily was born. One of my good friends took some of the best pictures of us before Lily came. Thank you Jill...I love them. If you are looking for a photographer in this area be sure to check out Jill Samples Photography

Water Breaking...pt 1

My due date was January 30th & my c-section was scheduled for January 23rd. I had hopes of trying for a vbac.
1am while changing a load of laundry from the washer to the dryer my water broke. Was this really it? I went to Jason who was watching tv & said "umm, I think my water broke or I just peed my pants a whole bunch." Jason instantly jumped up asking what he needed to do. I just kept saying "I don't know...it won't stop." I went and stood in the bathroom because every time I moved more water would come. I told Jason to go pack himself a bag while I decided what I needed to do.

At this point I hadn't been having any contractions other then a few braxton hicks earlier in the day. I had just been to the doctor Monday afternoon & was told Lily was still really high and it didn't look like labor would happen before my c-section date.

Trying for a vbac meant I had to go into labor on my own with no help from pitocin or any other inducing methods. My water breaking gave me a chance at having a vbac.

I finally decided to put some bathing suit bottoms on (they seemed absorbent) and wrap a towel around me. Jason & I then proceeded to run around the house getting things ready. I thought I had at least a few days. I had Lily's bag packed for the hospital, but hadn't packed anything for me & hadn't packed Jake a bag for his stay with my in-laws. Jason started picking up the house, the dishwasher needed to be unloaded. We were basically running around the house doing things I thought I had a week to do. Oh & putting Lily's carseat in the car too.

Around 2:00am I started having contractions. They were ranging from 10 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart. Around 2:30 I called my doctors office and they said to go ahead and come on in(we are about an hour from the hospital). We woke Jake up dropped him off at my inlaws & headed to the hospital.

We were checked in & in the labor & delivery room by 4am.

The upsetting news came when at 5am they checked me and I was still barely 1c, thick & high which was what I was Monday afternoon at the doctor. By this time I had been having contractions every 3-5 minutes.

My midwife came in and said she would be back around 8am to check on me.

1 Week

You are 1 week old our little Lily girl. It is hard to believe that just 1 short week ago we welcomed you into this world.

You are the easiest going baby. You sleep most of the day waking about every 2 hours to eat and have a few minutes of awake time. You usually have one longer period of awake time around 6pm. Nights are just as easy with you too. You continue your every 2 hour feeding until around 1am. The last few days you have slept until 5:30 or 6:30 after your 1am feeding. Getting that 4 1/2-5 1/2 hour stretch of sleep really has helped me to not feel so sleep deprived. I was worried I might need to wake up during this time to feed you, but the consensus from everyone seems to be let you sleep. I know you are getting enough during the day and it is only the one long stretch. I never had to think about this with your brother...he was not a very good sleeper at night.

Your brother is so in love with you. He is always asking to hold you. He is waiting on pins and needles for the day mommy will let him give you a bottle. He loves the times when you have your eyes open and always makes sure to show you his cool tricks during those times.

You are a nursing super star. You had a perfect latch from the moment I fed you in the hospital and have had no issues with eating.

We are all getting adjusted to having you outside of mommy's belly. We love watching all the funny faces you make while you are sleeping. And none of us can get enough of just staring into your sweet little face.

Delivery...in pictures

Thought I would share some pictures from our little Lily's delivery. Jason just went back to work today & I am adjusting to being home with my children. I am hoping to get her labor story written along with several other things that are on my mind now with our sweet girl her & her great big brother.

36/37 Weeks

Here we are almost 37 weeks...a little late on the monthly picture. But we have made it to 9 months...only 4 weeks until my due date. However, I have a c-section scheduled for 39 weeks. I will take one more picture wearing this blue shirt right before going to the hospital. Unless of course I go into labor before my c-section date then I may not get a last belly shot in the blue shirt.

I haven't posted too much about really wanting a vbac (vaginal birth after cesarean) or the plan that has been set by my doctors. I may post that this week. The c-section being scheduled at 39 weeks isn't the ideal situation, but it is the way my doctors office works. I am given an opportunity to have a vbac if I go into labor on my own before 39 weeks. Other wise I will have a repeat c-section.

I am still feeling pretty good even at 36 weeks. Over the last week or so I must have really started looking big. I am getting comments almost every time I am out. It really is shocking to me how often people say things. And it almost seems like I am getting more comments from men then women. Things like "you must be miserable", "are there 2 babies in there?", "you look like you are due any day." I suppose these are all fine things to say to a 9 month pregnant girl. But the truth is I really haven't been miserable yet(yes, my almost all day heart burn might make things a little tough). I am actually enjoying being pregnant and trying to enjoy every moment I have left. Jake was born a few days after 37 weeks so I know that this can be over any day now. I want to remember every moment of our sweet Lily when she was in my belly.

I am doing much better this pregnancy then I did with Jake. At this point my blood pressure was up and I had been put on moderate bed rest. The 2nd time around seems a little easier.

I may get one more post up before she is born, but we will see how it all plays out. But if not my c-section is scheduled for Jan. 23rd. And I am sure I will have an update posted later that week

Ringing in the New Year

New Years Eve for us is all about hanging out with family. My sisters & I along with our children & husbands all meet at my parents house. Enjoying time together, eating yummy appetizer food, and entertaining our children. Not very hard they kids all typically play together.

This year I decided we would add a little more fun for the kids. I saw several by the hour bags and thought our kids would enjoy this. Thinking most of the kids would be asleep before midnight we started our bags at 5 and ended with an early toast at 10pm. Little did we know that only 1 of the children would actually be asleep by midnight. Jake made it until 12 toasted the new year with us and then was sound asleep on the couch by 12:10am.

5:00-decorating sugar cones to look like party hats
 7:00pm-playing board games
Trying to get them all to look & smile was impossible, the 4 oldest cousins

10:00 sparkling cider toast
Of course Jake making a silly face...we can't get a picture with him smiling these days

Me with my super cute husband...and a giant 36 week belly
