Spending the day at the beach usually leads to one thing....long naps for everyone. It was fun to see all the cousins sleeping after a fun day at the beach!

A Day at the beach
I mentioned in yesterdays post Jake loved the beach. It was so much fun to see him enjoy it so much.
What a trouper he was. We spent several hours at the beach every single day. Jake was in and out of the water. It was great to have my mom sitting right at the waters edge so when he was tired of being in the water, but we wanted to stay in the water he could go sit with my mom & play in the sand.
The water in Sandestin is totally clear & Jake loved that he could see fish swimming in the water. He spent lots of time trying to catch fish and loved when Uncle Perry caught fish & so did his cousin Austin.

Hello, GQ beach model....so cute
Jake dug his own whole & then wanted to be buried in it.

Back To reality
We are back from a week long vacation in Sandestin, Flordia. A week at the beach with my family was absolutely wonderful. It had been 2 years since our last beach trip & Jake didn't remember it all. It was wonderful to have Jason home (well on vacation) with us for an entire week. He hadn't had that much time off since Jake was born 3 1/2 years ago.
We were down with my parents, sister, & nephews. Jake had a great time playing on the beach with his cousins.
To say Jake loved the beach would be a total understatement. He LOVED the water, the sand & everything about it. We brought his arm floaties with us, which made him feel more comfortable and he went pretty far out into the water with us. He was such a trouper getting knocked down by waves & having the water splash him in the face.
I will probably be sharing pictures most of the week. For now I am trying to get back into our normal routine and adjusting to not having Jason home with us. We miss him so much when he goes back to work.

Quiet
I didn't get very many posts up last week. I didn't have many pictures to share, and honestly wasn't really on the computer that much.
But it is going to be even quieter around here this coming week. My husband will be off work for an entire week! Instead of being behind a computer screen I am going to give my full attention to our family and having fun.
So there won't be anything around here until the following week. Hopefully I will have a post up on the 27th. Look for lots of new posts to come then and fun stuff to share.
While you are here...are you a follower? See the little box showing pictures of people? Click where it says follow and keep up to date when new posts go up.
Enjoy your week!!!

Daily Moments (6/5-6/11)
Alright, got my camera back! Sad to say though I don't have a picture for every day of this past week. But a few pictures is better then none!
Sunday-June 5th-Me & Jake...this is the "Jake, look at the camera" look. He tends to smile, but look away right as you are about to take the picture.
Wednesday-June 8th-Almost every time I upload pictures from the camera I am surprised by Jake pictures. This is one of them...looking in his outside bucket.
Thursday-June 9th-Jake in the kiddie car wash pool. He has so much fun swimming and loves when we can visit our friends pool that also has the water slide he loves.
Saturday-June 11th-My boy is so cute...and looking so big!!!

Half Way There
Alright we have tried 15 different styles of our 30. How are you doing?
I must admit I have been so tempted to just go back to my usual hair down style. Most days I end up having two styles. With it being summer and spending time at the pool I usually don't style my hair for the pool. Then in the afternoon I will try an new style.
Thinking we still have 15 days of coming up with style seems a little overwhelming. I have several styles I want to try. I have lots of braided styles I want to try, but I am still trying to figure out how to braid my own hair. And it still look good.
Through these 15 days I have decided it is really about accessories. You can have several similar hairstyles, but with different accessories. And bobby pins have been my favorite go to.
I also decided you guys wouldn't be interested in seeing 30 pictures of me during this month. And only have taken a couple pictures of a few styles.
Do you have a blog & are joining in with the 30 days challenge? Even if you don't have a blog. I would love to hear in the comments if you are trying out different hair styles.

Going to be late....
I left my camera at my mom's this weekend...so that means Daily Moments will be late. I am hoping to get my camera tomorrow, but it could be Wednesday before it is up. Just wanted to give the heads up since I know a few of you check Tuesday just for that.
Also coming up this week a 30 days 30 styles update. And of course there will be a garden update this week too.

Big Yellow Flowers-(week 6)
Another garden update! Are you growing a garden in your yard? Have you been able to pick anything yet?
We are at week 6 of gardening and everything is covered in flowers. All of our squash plants have big yellow flowers on them and tiny yellow squash at the end of each flower. Our cucumber has flowers too & so does our green beans. Along with flowers on our tomato plants we have lots of green tomatoes.
I am thinking we should be able to finally enjoy some "fruit" of our labor next week. At least in one of our crops.
I really enjoy gardening and so does Jake. Every morning he goes out to see if anything has changed. Such a fun learning experience for him.

Daily Moments (5/29-6/4)
Daily Moments...we are living with summer weather & loving it. Although it has been really hot I much prefer that over freezing cold. It is a little early to be in the 90's around here, but being in the pool has helped with that. I tried to get other pictures this week, other wise, you would be tired of seeing Jake in the pool by the end of summer.
Sunday-May 29th-Jason & me enjoying the fire pit...of course Jason had to make a silly face! But we are still pretty cute!
Monday-May 30th-Memorial Day we had a big hot dog bar with 6 different types of hot dog suggestions and of course tons of toppings giving your hot dog making all the creativity you want. And it was so yummy!!!
Tuesday-May 31st-What do you do when it is super hot and the grass needs to be watered...of course play in the sprinkler.
Wednesday-June 1st-We spent a good portion of our day in this fort. Jake loved it and called it our club. We read books, tickled, and made up our own stories. And enjoyed a fort snack too. This will for sure be a summer staple.
Thursday-June 2nd-Jake with his cousin Caleb taking a break from playing. I thought it was so cute they were both laying on the couch in the same way without any prompting.
Friday-June 3rd-Jake & Caleb enjoying a Friday frozen yogurt treat. Jake refused to look for any of the pictures I was taking. So one with both boys taking bites would have to do as the best for today.
Saturday-June 4th-Jake handed me the camera and said "take a picture of me when I jump." Well, this was the best I could get. My camera was being too slow to get the picture of him in the air, but you can kind of tell he is jumping. This was one of many and he approved that this was an ok jumping picture.

Hair Styles
How do you wear your hair? I feel like every day my hair is styled the same way. So I am giving myself a challenge for the month of June. Wear my hair in a different style everyday this month. I got the idea from Beauty Riot where they did the 30 days 30 styles and it really got me thinking.
I would say at least 90% of the time I wear my hair straight, down, with a little flip at the ends. Another 5% I wear it curly & then the rest of the time it is up in some type of pony tail.
So here it is the challenge to wear 30 different styles for the next 30 days!
I began on June 1st with my normal (90%) style and then the next day with the curly. Got my 2 usual styles out the way right from the start. I will say that I have a bag of tricks thanks to the wonderful pinterest. Are you there? If so follow me & if you need an invite let me know. Oh my goodness internet wonderfulness.(I could post a whole post just on that)
We are a couple days into June, but it isn't too late to join me. What do you say are you up for a new style every day? Be sure to leave a comment if you are going to join in or if you have a link to some fun/easy hair styles.

Water Boy
Jake has loved the pool pretty much since the first time he was in it. He is definitely our little water boy.
He does great with his arm floaties on. He will jump in & out of the pool a million times, as well as, jumping off the diving board. He has no fear.
And then he progressed to cannon ball jumping. The 1st couple of times were so cute and he would hold his knees the whole time he was walking on the diving board. And then finally he got that he was supposed to grab his knees once he was in the air. It was so surprising to see how big of a splash my little 3 year old could make.
Of course when you are doing cannon balls what fear is there in diving off daddies shoulders too?
I am pretty sure he will be officially swimming by the end of the summer, but I am hoping the arm floaties stay for a little longer. I feel safer when he has them on and he isn't as cautious as he used to be.
I can't believe how big and brave he is getting.

Strawberry Jammin'
Homemade strawberry jam is the best...the only thing that might make it better is if they strawberries had been picked in our own backyard. We ran out of last years jam a couple months ago and I haven't bought any since. It has been wonderful to have fresh jam in our refrigerator again. Yum!!!
We make the super easy freezer jam. Using fruit pectin, sugar, & smashing our strawberries then freezing what we won't use and putting one jar straight to the fridge. You can also cook the mixture, but freezing leaves out this step and according to the directions is easier.
This strawberry jam is yummy!!

Tiny Green Tomatoes
It was so exciting when we went out to our garden earlier this week and discovered tiny green tomatoes. As Jake says "soon they will be red." I love seeing that things are growing and that we will actually get fruits from our love & labor over our garden.
Here is our garden at week 5!
