Daily Moments (3/20-3/26)

I can't believe we are almost finished with  March. I know I say this all the time but where do the days go? My boy is so big and every moment grows before my eyes.

Sunday-March 20th-Jake & Caleb enjoying a wheel barrel ride from Pawpaw...they were cracking up the whole time.

Monday-March 21st-Do you notice anything different from yesterdays picture? Jake was rocking the cutest shag hair cut in yesterdays picture. But the time had come for a hair cut. He still looks so cute with his new short hair style, and it is so much better for the hot weather coming up.

Tuesday-March 22nd-We went out for Mexican with my sister & nephew. Out front there were these huge metal statues. The boys had fun running around them.

Wednesday-March 23rd- Not sure if you can see with "The Letter Factory" movie in the background, but Jake is holding a paper airplane. He has been obsessed with paper airplanes this week. And has played with them almost nonstop.

Thursday-March 24th- Our Japanese Maple is blooming beautifully. I couldn't help taking a picture of it's bright red color and the beautiful blue sky in the background. These are the days of spring.

Friday-March 25th- We don't use our front door often (ignore the empty pots they are awaiting fresh flowers) we typically go in and out through the garage. A couple weeks ago I had noticed that the frame around our front door was starting to chip and the front of our house was looking a little ugly. Jake & I spent a couple days this week cleaning the front of our house, sanding the door frame, and giving it a fresh coat of white paint. It looks so welcoming!

Saturday-March 26th-The weather has been a little rainy. We have been playing with a huge bouncy ball in our kitchen. Jake loves to bounce it back and forth. This is a great action picture.

Time 4 Learning

I've been invited to try Time4Learning for one month in exchange for a candid curriculum review. Time4Learning can be used as an online homeschooling program or afterschool tutorial. Be sure to come back and read about my experience.

I am so excited to be reviewing Time 4 Learning and can't wait to let you all know what Jake & I think of this fun way to learn.

Georiga Aquarium

A couple weeks ago during a Daily Moments post I shared a picture of Jake at the aquarium, but never got around to sharing a whole post.

We all had so much fun at the aquarium...can't believe it took us this long to finally go. We went on a Monday afternoon and it really wasn't crowded at all. We were able to walk right up to the glass in every exhibit and see everything a few times.

I think our favorite would be walking through the tunnel with the water on all sides of you. With sharks, sting ray and lots of really big fish swimming all around.

A lot of the fish tanks are floor to ceiling and gigantic.
 Looking at the Beluga whales

The penguin exhibit has a crawl through tunnel that gives you an up close and personal look. It was neat to see them so close.
Do you see that big tiger shark swimming right in front of Jake...this tank had tons of different fish in it

Daily Moments (3/13-3/19)

Another fun week here in the Nunnally house. And of course this wonderful weather has definitely added to the fun. We love to be outside.

Sunday-March 13th- Today we celebrated Jason's birthday with family. My parents made Jason a giant steak(his favorite) for dinner. Of course Jason's birthday wouldn't be complete without a Great American Cookie company cake.

Tuesday-March 15th- My sister and I went to a 31 party tonight. Mawmaw & Papa Jack come to watch Jake & Caleb while we were gone. Jake loves getting to be with his grandparents and Caleb was excited to be able to stay with them too.

Wednesday-March 16th- Spring wreath...LOVE IT! My friend Vickie & I see different crafts and then plan a craft day every few weeks. This week I made this wreath and I love it!!

Thursday-March 17th- The Leprechaun came for a visit today. Leaving a small mess and lots of gold coins scattered throughout the house. Jake was so excited when he came down stairs St. Patrick's Day morning.

Friday-March 18th- Do you see the little hand? We have been driving around with our windows down the past few days. I love that when I look out my side mirror of the car this is what I see. Makes me smile every time.

Saturday-March19th- 4 of the 6 (the other 2 are only 8 months old) grandsons spent the day with Nana. All of them riding their bikes in the back yard. They have so much fun together and love to play.

An Irish Meal

To go along with our St. Patrick's Day theme we added in a few Irish meals along with some fun shamrock food.

For lunch today Jake ate a sandwich shaped like a shamrock, with green ranch dressing, & cucumbers(he thought this was so gross even though he loves ranch dressing).

For dinner I made corned beef & cabbage with potatoes. I used this recipe I found online and it was very good. Better then when I made it last year...yum!

I didn't really think about dessert before hand. But I thought dessert would be fun for today so I made some quick brownies topped with whipped cream and green sprinkles. Fun & yummy too. Next year I will put more thought into dessert and might try something like this Irish Guinness Cake or Creamy Bailey's Mousse Pie, or Chocolate Potato Cake

A Leprechaun Came to Play

In years past we have celebrated St. Patrick's Day wearing green and eating corned beef & cabbage for dinner. This year I decided to have some fun with the day. We have been doing St. Patrick's Day themed activities for the last week and reading "The Story of St. Patrick" and "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day." In "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day" the children are awaiting the arrival of the Leprechaun's and trying to catch them. This gave me several ideas to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I also got a couple of ideas from this blog and combined them all into today.

Here is the note our Leprechaun left for Jake:
The Leprechaun came to play
It was too late I could not stay
A trick or two I have left for you
A mess you might find
But 20 gold coins I have left behind
A few special treats
Next year I'll try to be neat
Happy St. Patrick's Day

Not the best rhyming letter, but it is what I came up with. The gold coins were scattered throughout the house along with green shredded paper bag filling. The Leprechaun left a box of Lucky Charms cereal(sometimes sugary cereal is ok for breakfast...right?) & a couple of green gifts (the green shirt for Jake to wear today, green bubble wand, & some green glow in the dark bugs(the shirt was only $4 & everything else was a $1 so not too much was spent). The Leprechaun left a small mess...Jake was really worried about the mess he would leave the night before & I didn't want to have to clean up a huge mess. Everywhere a mess was made gold coins and green grass were left behind.

It was so much fun and Jake loved it. He still want let me clean up the green grass scattered throughout the house since "the Leprechaun left the grass for him." Guess we will live with that on the floor for a few more days. I am sure we will keep several of these ideas for next year, but would love to hear if you have any fun things you do for St. Patrick's Day.

Daily Moments(3/6-3/12)

Just now getting around to posting the Daily Moments for this week. This week has been pretty busy, but with lots of fun stuff!

Monday-March 7th-We spent the day at the Georgia Aquarium. Jake looking at the jelly fish tank. He was so mesmerized by all the tanks and fish.

Tuesday-March 8th-Fat Tuesday wouldn't be the same without King cake. Jake & Caleb enjoying their cake with masks and beads. Umm, yes Jake is at the always wanting to be goofy for the camera stage..might be 10 years before I get another normal picture of him.

Wednesday-March 9th-We made salt dough today and cut out some shamrocks and made a crown of thorns to start off Lent.

Thursday-March 10th-Jake has decided most of his toys are for sitting in. This is his shopping cart he emptied and likes to sit in.

Friday-March 11th-And here he is again sitting in his block bucket. Silly boy he is.

Love the Dentist?

Would you believe my 3 year old loved the dentist? Really he did! We had been learning about our teeth and reading books about the dentist the week leading up to his appointment. When we woke up to go he was so excited. I was worried his excitement would wear off the minute they started talking to him or touching him. But no, he was still all smiles.

He had no problem with them looking in his mouth or cleaning his teeth. He was even asked a few times to open his mouth wider because he would start to smile during the exam. Once she pulled out the electric tooth brush he was laughing as she brushed his teeth...saying it tickled...really?

I think I had a harder time with the appointment then he did. As I was standing near his dental chair I had to really concentrate on holding the tears back. He is such a big boy. He had been to this dentist before as a "happy visit." Basically a get to know the place, but this was his first cleaning. Lots of tears were shed at these visits.  This visit not one tear was shed. (maybe a few silent ones by me)

A little downer they did find a small cavity...small enough they said they probably won't even numb him to fill it. It will be up to us if we give him laughing gas or not. Have you allowed your child to have laughing gas? But this too he is excited about and has told everyone "I have a cavity, & I get to go back to have it filled."

All in all it was a great visit. A mostly(exception being the cavity) great report(his 2.5 years with the paci had no negative effects it seems). And he still is excited to go back to the dentist. And really likes brushing and flossing at home too!

Daily Moments (2/27-3/5)

Another week of several days outside, but as I type this it is pretty cold outside. How is that time goes so fast?

Sunday-February 27th-Caleb & Jake love being outside and even more so if it involves dirt. They took a whole bunch of cars outside with them today...something you just don't see too much of any more.

Monday-February 28th-Jake & Daddy playing games on Daddies phone.

Tuesday-March 1st-We took a walk through our neighborhood today. Jake had fun finding the "blowing flowers" and collecting leaves as his treasure. So nice to be outside.

Wednesday-March 2nd-Umm...hello dangerous. Yes, I know he could have fallen on his head. As soon as I took the picture I made him get down. It was funny to hear Jake & Caleb talking to each other about getting on there for a ride.

Thursday-March 3rd-Jake had his dentist appointment today. He is so grown up. And did amazing at the dentist.

Friday-March 4th- No Picture...Jake stayed with his Mawmaw & Papa Jack last night and again tonight. You can picture him having a ton of fun with them. Or me enjoying a day for some me time with a delicious Panera and a pedicure. Or having a fun dinner with my book club girls to celebrate 2 sweet friends birthdays.

Saturday-March 5th-no picture again...picked Jake up from his grandparents and it was rainy and yucky out today.
